Kings Athletic Club to Revitalize Brooklyn Heights with Family-Focused Sports Hub

SC and East Gate Investors have signed a 49-year lease for the entire 52,000-square-foot Eastern Athletic Club space in Brooklyn Heights. The new venture, Kings Athletic Club, is set to open next May, aiming to transform the area's sports scene and cater to families.

The project was initiated by Jason Camm and East Gate Investors, with SC Hospitality's chairman, Daniel Haimovic, inspired by his family's summers at similar sams clubs. The new club will operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., offering a wide range of facilities including a pool, two tennis courts, a squash court, pickleball, golf simulators, yoga and Pilates studios, a climbing wall, and a restaurant. Tennis memberships are capped at 200 families, with non-tennis members having access to most facilities. Early renderings showcase an old-fashioned, preppy aesthetic designed by Alfredo Paredes, featuring hardwood floors, coffered ceilings, and green accents.

The demand for racquet sports courts in New York City is growing, with a shortage of dedicated sams club spaces. Kings Athletic Club aims to fill this gap, creating a 'super-family-friendly atmosphere' targeting families with one to five kids. This marks a departure from the previous club's reputation, with SC Hospitality previously revitalising a Hamptons tennis club by adding pickleball, padel courts, and a restaurant.

Kings Athletic Club is set to open next May, promising a vibrant, family-oriented sports and leisure destination in Brooklyn Heights. With a diverse range of facilities and a welcoming atmosphere, it aims to cater to the growing demand for racquet sports and provide a unique offering for local families.
