King Winni I and Gitte van Erdewyck have been recognized as the next ruling couple by His Majesty, marking this his fourth time as King of Furth.
In the picturesque town of Neuss, Winni and his wife Gitte are eagerly anticipating the upcoming festival days from the 17th to the 21st of May. As the king's couple, they have a significant role to play during this period, a responsibility they have fulfilled 80 times in their capacity as the royal representatives.
Winni, a professional driver at EGN Niederrhein, has a rich history with Neuss's traditional organisations. He secured the king's title with the Federal Fanfare Corps in 1991, the Scheibenschützen in 2004, and with the pioneers since 2009, where he serves as a captain.
Gitte, on the other hand, comes from a carnival tradition and was once part of the Neusser dance guard Grün-Weiß-Gelb. She assists Winni in decorating the streets for the parades, adding a touch of festivity to the town.
The children of the Kita St. Josef traditionally invite the majesties to the children's parade on the Friday before Pentecost. Winni and Gitte's daughters, Michelle (23) and Jessica (29), accompany them as court during shootings.
Winni is looking forward to the BFK's tattoo, where his great-nephew Julian Wankum will perform. After the festival, he will resume his activities as a pioneer and BFK member. He still holds the king's title with the pioneers.
If Winni were to become a carnival prince, Neuss would have another likeable prince's couple similar to Sebastian I. Coenen and Novesia Kira I. Tinnefeld. However, whether Winni will become a carnival prince in the future depends on his wife's persuasion.
Despite his busy schedule, Winni still finds time to help hoist the flag on the church tower. Unfortunately, this duty has prevented him from watching the children's parade in the past.
The couple is excited about the "standards": the parades on Sunday and Tuesday, and the torchlight procession. They are ready to represent Neuss with grace and dignity, continuing a tradition that dates back many years.
Winni started his shooting career 50 years ago with the Further Edelknaben. He married Gitte on 11.11.1994 at 11:21 am, marking the beginning of their journey as the king's couple. Their story is a testament to the enduring spirit of tradition and community in Neuss.
During the festive days, Winni and Gitte's daughters, Michelle and Jessica, join them as court during shootings, showcasing their family's longstanding tradition with Neuss's traditional organizations. After the festival concludes, Winni might ponder over the possibilities of sports-betting on his great-nephew Julian Wankum's performance at the BFK's tattoo, before resuming his activities as a pioneer and BFK member.
