On a chaotic Tuesday afternoon in Hong Kong, a kindergarten was ablaze. The inferno tore through Yuen Long Lutheran Life Kindergarten, located on Yuen Long On Ning Road, reduced to cinders by the brutal embrace of flames.
Videos circulating online depicted a part of the kindergarten campus engulfed in towering infernos, sending thick black plumes of smoke skyward. The sight was a terrifying spectacle, sending shiver down the spine of any onlooker.
The fire had its ignition in a classroom, striking at around 3.40pm. The facility had to say goodbye to 250 little ones and 51 dedicated teachers in a matter of minutes, as evacuation proceedings were set into motion without delay. Miraculously, none were reported to have suffered serious injuries, or worse.
Firefighters swooped in with all guns blazing, deploying hosepipes and breathing apparatus teams to bring the blaze under control. They managed to extinguish the fire by 3.58pm.
Investigations soon revealed that the origin of the conflagration lay with a faulty air-conditioning unit within the affected classroom[1][5].
