Kimmich, identified as Scott, submits documents signaling his aspiration to vie for the Kenton County Commissioner-District 3 position in the year 2026.

Scott Kimmich, a 62-year-old resident of Erlanger, has officially announced his candidacy for Kenton County Commissioner in District 3, filing paperwork for a spot on the Kenton County Fiscal Court in June 2025. Kimmich, a Republican, has a rich history of public service, having served in various roles under five judges or executives, including his tenure as Kenton Deputy Judge from 1999 to 2010.

In addition to his role as a deputy judge, Kimmich served on the County Board of Elections from 2013 to 2025. He also held the position of Chair of the District Board of Health in 2024-25. Kimmich's political career has seen him appointed to positions of public trust by five governors and two House Speakers.

Kimmich, who is a proud parent of two grown daughters and a doting grandparent, has expressed that his decision to run is not driven by personal ambition, but by a desire to make a difference through public service. He plans to spend the summer talking with friends, renewing old acquaintances, and raising funds for his race. In the fall, Kimmich intends to file his nomination papers.

Despite the ethics complaint filed against him by Erlanger Councilmember Jennifer Jasper-Lucas, which alleged that Kimmich misused his position by obtaining confidential poll worker information for personal political gain, the Kentucky Board of Elections dismissed the complaint, allowing Kimmich’s campaign to proceed without formal ethical charges.

While Kimmich has a clear background in public service, his specific policy proposals or platform have not been explicitly stated in available sources. However, he has made it clear that his campaign focus is on policies and ideas, not political platitudes. As he gears up for his campaign, Kimmich remains committed to expanding the debate beyond buzzwords like restoring fiscal responsibility and transparency.
