Update on Kim Kardashian's Testimony in 2016 Paris Burglary Case

Kim Kardashian, the renowned reality TV actress and businesswoman, testified in a Paris court last week regarding the burglary that occurred during the Paris Fashion Week in 2016. The high-profile robbery left her tied up and held at gunpoint in a luxurious room, resulting in the theft of millions of dollars worth of jewelry, including a $4 million diamond engagement ring from her then-husband Kanye West.

During her emotional testimony, Kardashian recounted her terrifying encounter with the burglars. Abderrahmane Ouatiki, the night receptionist who was forced to interpret the demands of the robbers, described Kim as "in a state of complete terror" and "completely hysterical." Ouatiki further stated that he had been worried about his life due to the burglar's unusual behavior and Kardashian's loud protests.

The trial began on April 28, with ten people standing accused, with two excused due to health reasons. According to reports, additional diamonds worth approximately $9 million were stolen, in addition to the engagement ring. The police believe that the accused broke up and sold the stolen gems, however, they have not yet been recovered.

The trial has been referred to as the "grandpa robbers" case due to several of the accused being in their seventies. Many of them suffer from severe health issues, including obvious tremors and undergoing chemotherapy. One of the alleged ringleaders, Aomar Ait Khedache, is deaf and mute and was required to write down his answers during interrogation.

Authorities took the accused, alongside several other individuals suspected of being accomplices, into custody three months after the crime. Kim Kardashian returned to the United States following a statement to authorities in the early hours of October 3, immediately after the incident.

The upcoming testimony of Kim Kardashian is expected to garner significant media attention, with over 500 journalists having been accredited. According to experts, the testimony allows her to reclaim agency and rewrite the ending of the traumatic event she experienced in 2016.

Note: The official date of Kim Kardashian's testimony is believed to be around May 29, 2025, as the trial began around that time.
