Golfer Kim A-Lim Triumphs at U.S. Women's Open, Claiming Her First Major Victory

Ranked 94th in the world, Kim sealed the deal with birdies on the final three holes, dethroning World No. 1 Liu Jing and American Amy Olson.

Notably, this was Kim's first-ever appearance in the United States at a Women's Open event. In addition, her impressive performance bagged her a third career title.

Starting the final round with a five-stroke deficit against leader Hinako Shibuno, Kim managed to wipe out her initial disadvantage, ultimately securing a two-stroke victory.

Heavy rain disrupted play on Sunday, necessitating a Monday finish to conclude the tournament.

"It's an immense honor to win the 75th U.S. Women's Open Championship," Kim stated, visibly emotional. "I'm still struggling to comprehend feeling like a champion, but this win feels extraordinary."

Kim reminisced on the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed her gratitude for hosting the U.S. Women's Open in Houston.

"This is a fantastic victory. I absolutely adore this golf course and this setting. I wouldn't mind setting up a tent here and extending my stay," added Kim.

Her triumph earned Kim a million-dollar prize, with Korean golfers bagging three out of four major titles in 2020.
