Dresden Ice Lions' Shakeup:kilpivaara Takes Charge Again! 🏒️

It's no surprise that the Dresdner Eislöwen have axed head coach Corey Neilson (47). The Anglo-Canadian manager, who led the team for underwhelming results, was ousted in favor of former assistant coach Petteri Kilpivaara (38) - the team's savior yet again!

Matthias Roos, the team's sporting director, explained the decision: "We're in a downward spiral. Three victories in the past twelve games aren't sufficient," he admitted. Roos informed Neilson of the decision on Sunday, citing poor defensive behavior and numerous mistakes while conceding goals as major concerns.

Petteri's Return

Kilpivaara has stepped into the role for the second time, filling in for the departed Andreas Brockmann last season.

"Small alterations are needed now," Roos insisted. "Petteri is the ideal man for the job since he has been familiar with the team and the respective environment for quite a while."

Time for Fresh Start

The team's performance and Kilpivaara's future as the coach remain uncertain.

"I hope to finish the season as head coach once more," admitted Kilpivaara. "From now on, I expect everyone to compete with heart and passion."

Recent reports suggest that some players did not genuinely support their former coach Neilson.

Potential Squad Changes

The team entertains the possibility of making significant lineup adjustments, removing professional players from the roster if required. Roos explained, "I won't guarantee that the lineup for the next match (vs. Biedigheim) will remain unchanged."
