Karlsruhe SC: Unbeaten and Defensively Solid, but Searching for a Consistent Striking Duo

Karlsruhe SC, the only unbeaten team in the second division this season, are proving to be a formidable force in the league. With an impressive defensive record, thanks in large part to the addition of Hans Christian Bernat, the team has only conceded three goals so far – the best record in the league.

However, the club is yet to find a fixed striking duo, despite a strong start to the season. Fabian Schleusener has secured his starting position with his impressive performances, scoring twice, effective work against the ball, and securing many balls. Yet, Schleusener's consistent performance has not been matched by a reliable partner up front.

Roko Šimić, another key striker for Karlsruhe SC, has been disappointing so far. Despite being a new signing for the club, Šimić has only managed to score one goal and is struggling to find his form. This has opened up competition for a starting position, with new signings Philipp Förster and Shio Fukuda also vying for a spot.

Coach Christian Eichner has expressed confidence in Schleusener's abilities but has noted that Šimić is working hard to improve his form. Leon Opitz and Louey Ben Farhat, who are also competing for a fixed attacking spot, may find themselves adapting to new roles to accommodate the team's needs. Opitz could potentially move to an inside forward role, while Ben Farhat is recovering from a metatarsal fracture.

As for the upcoming match, Karlsruhe SC will face Bundesliga relegated side Holstein Kiel on Sunday at 13:30 CET, broadcast on Sky. The team will be hoping to continue their unbeaten run and find the consistency they need in their striking department.
