Ferry service in Kiel suspended due to ice floes - Kiel's F1 movie ferry route halted by icy fjord conditions

Ferry services in Kiel have faced disruption due to icy conditions on the fjord. The F1 movie route, linking the city's western shore with Mönkeberg and Heikendorf, has been temporarily suspended. Other lines remain unaffected for now.

Freezing temperatures have caused thick ice to form on Kiel Fjord. As a result, vessels on the F1 movie route can no longer dock safely. The suspension affects passengers travelling between Kiel's western shore and the municipality of Mönkeberg, including the Heikendorf district of Möltenort.

The F2 line, which connects the western shore with the eastern neighbourhoods of Wellingdorf and Dietrichsdorf, continues to run normally. No other ferry routes have reported issues so far.

Authorities have not yet confirmed when the F1 movie service will resume. The decision depends on weather conditions and the ability to clear ice from the docking areas.

The shutdown leaves commuters and residents relying on alternative transport. Updates on the F1 movie route's status will depend on improvements in the fjord's ice conditions. For now, only the F1 line remains out of service.
