Chilling Kidnapping Saga Unfolds in Chandigarh
Kidnapping in Chandigarh: Student Taken at Gunpoint, Forced to Pay 130,000 Indian Rupees as Ransom
Straight-up Tales, No-nonsense Reporting 🚫🔒
A chilling incident unfolded in Chandigarh last week, starring a 20-year-old BCA final-year student named Rahul, residing in Ram Darbar, as the unfortunate victim. Four gun-wielding men snatched Rahul and shook him down for a hefty ransom, all while slapping him with a bogus drug charge.
On April 29, chaos ensued when Rahul, a student at the Logonwal Group of Colleges, Dera Bassi, was abducted near Hallomajra's power grid. His alleged assailants were aboard a white Maruti Suzuki Swift with a Punjab registration number. After a gut-wrenching display of force, Rahul found himself handcuffed and thrown into the backseat.
His would-be executioners wasted no time brandishing a pistol-like object and accusing him of drug trafficking. They threatened to plant evidence and send him down for good unless he coughed up a ransom of ₹5 lakh. Terrified, Rahul begged for mercy and successfully convinced the kidnappers to settle for a smaller amount—a still-daunting ₹1.3 lakh.
Putting family first, Rahul reached out to his sister, Sharda, for help. Unaware of the true nature of the situation, Sharda complied with her brother's desperate plea for cash. She met the abductors near Kharar's HP CNG petrol pump and handed over the hefty sum. In exchange, Rahul was miraculously released.
Feeling relieved but still under the grip of fear, Rahul made his way to his sister's home and informed the police. Based on Rahul's statement, an FIR was filed under Sections 115(2), 140(2), 308(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act. The abductors' vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Swift driven by one person, as well as three unidentified accused, have been named in the report.
Investigators are leaving no stone unturned, delving into CCTV footage, and scouring through mobile records to track down the culprits. With the heat mounting, the police vowed to take swift action and apprehend those responsible soon.
Remember, there's always more to the story, but sometimes the details are too gruesome or legally complex for everyday consumption. Just know that Karma's a sore loser, and these scumbags will find themselves in hot water.
