Kid Cudi shares his feelings about his participation in the court case involving Sean Combs: 'Every minute of it was unbearable for me'
In a surprising turn of events, rapper Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) took the stand as a key witness in Sean "Diddy" Combs' 2025 federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial. Cudi testified about his personal experience related to Combs, primarily to support his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who was a central witness in the case.
Initially reluctant to testify, Cudi declined twice before being compelled by subpoena to appear in court. During his testimony, he claimed that Combs broke into his Hollywood Hills home in 2011 after learning about his relationship with Ventura. He also alleged that Combs was responsible for a Molotov cocktail firebombing of his car weeks later.
Cudi described the ordeal as something he "hated every minute" of but felt committed to supporting Cassie, who was a friend and Combs’ ex-girlfriend. Despite the stressful circumstances, Cudi recalled feeling "calm" while testifying and spoke about his motivation to stand up for Ventura and his positive feelings toward her life developments since then.
Following the trial’s conclusion, Cudi shared his reflections on the experience in an August 2025 podcast interview on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast with host Alex Cooper. His public reflections included his casual courtroom attire choices and the emotional toll the trial took on him.
Combs was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. According to legal analysts, he will likely receive a significantly shorter sentence. Combs faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, but the exact sentence will be determined at a sentencing hearing set for Oct. 3.
In other news, Cudi's new book, "Cudi: The Memoir," debuted this week, offering readers a glimpse into his personal life and music career. His upcoming album, "Free," is set to release on August 22.
