Kickoff event for the International Cartoon Film Festival held in Wiesbaden
The Press Office of the City of Wiesbaden is issuing this press release to announce a unique event taking place at Schloss Biebrich on November 6, 2020, at 8 PM. The event, titled "Frame by Frame // A Look Behind the Scenes," is organised by the Friends of Films in the Castle, and will feature Christoph Lauenstein, an Oscar-winning animator and one of the twin brothers, Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein.
Christoph Lauenstein, along with his brother, has been creating handmade animated films for 35 years. Their first short animation film, "Balance," won an Oscar in 1990 and is still celebrated as a classic. It was seen as a symbol of German reunification. The Lauenstein brothers have since created two feature films as authors and directors using CGI.
At the event, Christoph Lauenstein will present a selection of artistic short films by the twin brothers. He will also discuss the hype surrounding their film "Balance" and why it took many years for him and his brother to start their own free film project again. The brothers' passion lies in artistic, thought-provoking art films, and the unique charm of handmade films in an increasingly digital world.
The event "Frame by Frame // A Look Behind the Scenes" is organised in cooperation with academic and educational partners such as the Academy of Performing Arts (ASU) in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts (FDU) in Belgrade, Serbia, among others. HessenFilm and Medien GmbH, the German Film and Media Evaluation, and the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain offer support for the event. Omnimago GmbH is a part of the event organisation.
Citizens can contact the Wiesbaden City Culture Department or the Press Office of the City of Wiesbaden at Schlossplatz 6, 65183 Wiesbaden, with any questions regarding the event. For further information, please visit the website of the Press Office of the City of Wiesbaden.
Don't miss this opportunity to witness the work of these animation pioneers and hear about their experiences firsthand. Christoph Lauenstein, an Oscar winner, will be present at the event.
