Kicking off the International Cartoon Film Festival in Wiesbaden
The City Culture Department of Wiesbaden is partnering with various organisations for the upcoming "Frame by Frame" event, which will take place at Schloss Biebrich on November 6, 2023. One of the highlights of the event will be a presentation by Christoph Lauenstein, who will showcase a selection of short films by the twin brothers Lauenstein, known for their 35-year career in creating handmade animated films.
Christoph Lauenstein will also discuss the brothers' foray into the world of long CGI films and their enduring love for artistic, profound art films. He will delve into the hype surrounding their Oscar-winning first short animated film "Balance", which they won in 1990, and the symbol it represented for German reunification. "Balance" is still celebrated as a classic today and ran continuously for 25 years at the House of History.
The Lauenstein brothers were also awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for their contributions to German cinema. At the event, Christoph Lauenstein will also discuss the reasons behind their hiatus from their own free film project and why it took many years for them to return to it.
The "Frame by Frame // A Look Behind the Scenes, Short Films by Oscar-winning Brothers Lauenstein" festival is organised by the Friends of Films in the Castle. Other partners in organising the event include HessenFilm and Medien GmbH, Omnimago GmbH, and the German Film and Media Evaluation. The event is further supported by the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, Georg Müller Stiftung winery, and Freaks to Table, which will be hosting wine tasting and providing dinner during the program.
For any questions about the "Frame by Frame" event, citizens can contact the responsible department or office through the press office website of the City of Wiesbaden. The press release for the event is issued by the Press Office of the City of Wiesbaden.
Don't miss this unique opportunity to gain insights into the creative process of the Lauenstein brothers and their inspiring journey in the world of film. Mark your calendars for November 6, 2023, and join us at Schloss Biebrich for an unforgettable evening of short films, wine, and dinner.
