Khabarovsk's Amur Waves Festival Returns with Global Military Bands in May
The 14th International Military Music Festival Amur Waves will return to Khabarovsk from May 25 to 31. Founded in 2012 by Lieutenant General Valery Khalilov, the event has grown into a major cultural gathering in Russia's Far East. Tickets for this year's performances will be available later this month on the festival's official website, amurwaves.ru.
The festival is organised jointly by Russia's Ministry of Defense, the Khabarovsk Territory government, and the city administration. Each year, it brings together over 600 military musicians from around the world. Performances include solo acts and large-scale open-air concerts across the city.
This year's programme will take place at multiple venues, such as the City Palace of Culture, Officers' House, and Khabarovsk Philharmonic. Outdoor stages will also be set up in Dynamo Park, Muravyov-Amursky Park, and Komsomolskaya Square, among others. In 2025, the festival drew more than 115,000 spectators, making it one of the region's most popular public events. Attendees can expect a mix of traditional military marches, classical pieces, and contemporary works. The festival's organisers have promised a diverse lineup, showcasing both Russian and international military bands.
The event continues to expand, offering free and ticketed performances across Khabarovsk. With a growing audience and a reputation for high-quality productions, Amur Waves remains a key cultural highlight for the region. Further details, including the full schedule, will be released on the festival's official website.
