Khabarovsk Krai’s 5.5-km ice road opens early, boosting holiday supply routes

The longest ice crossing in Khabarovsk Krai officially opened on December 24, 2025. Stretching 5.5 kilometres, the frozen route connects Podgornoye to Nikolayevsk-on-Amur. Drivers can now use the road at no cost, though only vehicles under five tons are currently permitted.

Construction finished ahead of schedule, allowing the ice road to open earlier than expected. The operational readiness certificate and traffic plan were signed by key figures, including Deputy Head of Administration Natalia Marchenko, local traffic police, and representatives from contractor NLP LLC. The ice crossing supervisor also approved the final documents.

The new route plays a vital role in supplying Nikolayevsk-on-Amur with essential goods. Its opening comes just in time for the busy holiday season, ensuring stores remain stocked. While the project’s completion was confirmed, no public details have been released about the specific individuals or companies involved in the launch ceremony.

The 5.5-kilometre ice road is now operational, providing a free and efficient transport link. It supports local trade by enabling timely deliveries of food and supplies. Authorities have not disclosed further information about the officials or organisations present at the opening.
