Khabarovsk education minister demands swift fixes after kindergarten delays

Alexey Mokrushin, the Minister of Education for Khabarovsk Krai, has begun a working trip to inspect local schools and kindergartens. His visit comes as the region prepares for major renovations under national funding projects. One of his first stops was Kindergarten No. 4, where repairs have fallen behind schedule.

Mokrushin’s tour started at Kindergarten No. 4, a facility undergoing repairs since March 2023. The project, funded by 34.8 million rubles from the national budget, has forced children to relocate temporarily to other kindergartens. Despite the modest size of the work, delays have pushed the completion date beyond expectations. The minister ordered contractors to finish the repairs within a week.

Between May 21 and 23, Mokrushin will visit Komsomolsk-on-Amur, the Nanaisky and Amursky Districts, and the Solnechny Urban District. His schedule includes inspections of kindergartens, schools, colleges, and universities, along with discussions with educators. The trip aims to assess the condition of educational buildings across the region. The visit also coincides with broader plans for 2026. Under national projects, Khabarovsk Krai will overhaul five schools, five kindergartens, and two college dormitories. These upgrades form part of a wider effort to modernise educational infrastructure in the area.

The minister’s inspection highlights ongoing delays at Kindergarten No. 4, where repairs must now be completed within a tight deadline. Meanwhile, the region’s upcoming renovations will target multiple schools and dormitories in the next two years. The funding and oversight aim to improve facilities for students and staff across Khabarovsk Krai.
