Makes TV Comeback After Seven Years - Kevin Spacey makes TV comeback in quirky Italian mentor role
Kevin Spacey is returning to television in the Italian comedy 'Minimarket', his first TV appearance since 2017. The series will premiere on December 26 exclusively on RaiPlay, the streaming platform of Italy’s public broadcaster RAI. Spacey plays a fictionalised version of himself, acting as an eccentric mentor to a young aspiring actor.
The show follows a young man, played by Filippo Lagana, who dreams of becoming a TV star. Spacey’s character serves as his 'artistic conscience and unpredictable mentor', guiding him through the ups and downs of show business. In one scene, the two perform a duet of Frank Sinatra’s 'I’ve Got You Under My Skin', while Spacey also sings Randy Newman’s 'You’ve Got a Friend in Me' in another.
The series marks Spacey’s return to television after a six-year absence. His role as a mentor in 'Minimarket' adds another chapter to his recent work in Italian entertainment. The premiere will be available to stream on RaiPlay from December 26.
