Another new job: Kevin Kühnert joins talk show - Kevin Kühnert swaps politics for the stage in bold 2026 talk show debut

Kevin Kühnert, the former SPD secretary-general, is stepping into a new role as a stage host. After leaving politics in late 2024, he will co-present the talk show Misunderstand Me Correctly from February 2026. His first appearance is set for Berlin’s Distel cabaret theater on February 1, 2026, with sociologist Harald Welzer as his guest.

Kühnert resigned from his political position in October 2024. He cited health issues and safety concerns as reasons for not running in the Bundestag elections. Since then, he has taken on multiple new projects, including writing for Rolling Stone and joining the financial reform group Finanzwende.

His stage debut will mark his third major career shift. From February 2026, he will co-host Misunderstand Me Correctly alongside actress and presenter Palina Rojinski. Future episodes will feature discussions with guests like authors Jagoda Maričić and Sophie Passmann, as well as actor Lars Eidinger. The first live show takes place at Berlin’s Distel theater. Kühnert’s transition from politics to entertainment follows a period of professional reinvention.

Kühnert’s move into hosting comes after his departure from the SPD leadership. The talk show will bring him together with well-known cultural figures, starting with Welzer in early 2026. His role alongside Rojinski signals a shift from political activism to public conversation and media engagement.
