A new television series called United is in development, backed by Hollywood stars Kevin Costner and Leonardo DiCaprio. The show will follow real-life stories of humanitarian workers, with its first season focusing on a UN mission in East Timor during 1999. Production is set to begin next year in Atlanta and Spain.

The series is a joint effort between Hollywood and the United Nations, produced by Appian Way, Onwards Studios, and Prime Focus DNEG. David Raymond will write and direct the episodes, which will air in an ongoing format.

Filming for United will start in 2025, with locations including Atlanta and Spain. The series aims to bring global humanitarian efforts to the screen, beginning with the UN’s pivotal role in East Timor’s path to independence. Costner and DiCaprio will serve as executive producers on the project.
