Kenya is set to make its debut appearance in the African Nations Championship (CHAN), co-hosting the tournament with Tanzania and Uganda. This marks a significant milestone for East Africa as it unites three nations in hosting the continent's premier competition featuring only domestic league players.

The CHAN 2024 tournament, running until August 30, is the first-ever edition jointly hosted by three nations under the "Pamoja" (Swahili for "together") banner. The event serves as a precursor to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which will also be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The competition features 19 teams, including heavyweight squads like Morocco and Senegal, competing in a format meant to spotlight homegrown players. Kenya hosts Group A matches at Kasarani Stadium with key fixtures including Kenya’s opener against DR Congo.

Former Harambee Stars striker Dennis "The Menace" Oliech has been unveiled as the Pamoja African Nations Championship Ambassador for Kenya. CAF has approved the CHAN 2024 event, praising the collaborative effort of the host countries.

The CHAN 2024 tournament is not permitted to feature athletes playing abroad. The tournament kicks off in Tanzania, where hosts Tanzania will face Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Kenya's national team, under the guidance of South African head coach Benni McCarthy, aims to make a strong statement on home soil during the CHAN 2024 tournament. The CHAN 2024 tournament is the first CAF championship of this magnitude in East Africa since 1976.
