SportPesa Triples Prize Money for Kenyan Premier League

In a significant move for Kenyan football, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and SportPesa have announced a tripling of the prize money for the Kenyan Premier League. The announcement was made during the official launch of the SportPesa League name and logo in Nairobi.

FKF President Hussein Mohamed and SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri revealed the new prize structure, which aims to reward excellence and give meaning to the competition. The long-standing issue of winners of the Kenyan Premier League receiving just Sh5 million has been addressed, with the champions' reward now standing at Sh15 million.

To achieve this, FKF will inject another Sh10 million into the prize pool, and SportPesa will match the same amount, creating a Sh20 million prize pool for the Kenyan Premier League. The prize money for the second-place team has also been increased from Sh3 million to Sh10 million, while the prize for the third-place team has been increased from Sh2 million to Sh10 million.

Ronald Karauri, CEO of SportPesa, also announced an increase in the prize money for the top three teams. The new prize structure is meant to raise competitiveness in the Kenyan Premier League and give players and clubs greater motivation.

Hussein Mohamed, FKF President, also revealed plans to further increase the champions' prize money to at least Sh50 million in the long term. This new prize structure marks a new dawn for Kenyan football, offering hope that better rewards will push clubs to raise their standards and bring more excitement to fans across the country.

The initiative is a testament to the commitment of SportPesa and the FKF towards the growth and development of Kenyan football. With these increased rewards, the Kenyan Premier League is set to become even more exciting and competitive in the coming seasons.
