Kenneth Branagh’s *Wallander* Now Streaming Free in Germany
Fans of Nordic crime dramas can now stream nearly all episodes of the British Wallander series for free. The show, starring Kenneth Branagh as true detective Kurt Wallander, ran from 2008 to 2015 with 12 feature-length episodes. All but one are currently available on Germany’s ARD Mediathek without a subscription.
The BBC adaptation of Henning Mankell’s novels follows detective Kurt Wallander as he solves crimes in Ystad, Sweden. Each episode presents a standalone case, while also exploring Wallander’s personal struggles and unorthodox methods. The series spans four seasons, with three episodes per season, each based on a different Mankell novel.
The free availability of Branagh’s Wallander on ARD Mediathek gives audiences easy access to one of the most acclaimed Nordic crime adaptations. The series remains a strong choice for viewers who enjoy atmospheric detective stories with psychological depth.
