Kelly Clarkson postpones concerts following the death of her ex-spouse.
Kelly Clarkson Reschedules Las Vegas Concerts Due to Ex-Husband's Illness
American singer Kelly Clarkson has announced the postponement of several concerts in Las Vegas, following the illness of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock. The concerts were initially scheduled for August 2025, but will now be rescheduled to allow Clarkson to be fully present for her children.
The ongoing residency, "Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions," at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Paradise, Nevada, has been affected by the postponements. The first two shows, initially scheduled for July 2025, have been postponed as a preventative measure to protect Clarkson's voice. The remaining concerts through August, beyond August 6, have also been postponed due to Blackstock's illness.
The updated schedule for the residency includes a start on July 11, with the first two shows postponed, all concerts through August postponed, and the remaining shows in late August and November still scheduled as planned but subject to updates. Ticket holders for postponed shows have been offered refunds or rescheduling options. For the most current status, checking official sources or venue announcements is advised.
Brandon Blackstock, the father of Clarkson's two children, River Rose (11) and Remington Alexander (9), bravely fought cancer for over three years. His death was announced by his father's company, Starstruck Entertainment, on Thursday. The type of cancer Blackstock had was not specified in the announcement.
Kelly Clarkson, who won the first season of the American reality TV show "American Idol" in 2002, has gained international fame as a singer and talk show host. She usually keeps her private life out of the public eye, but has spoken about her ex-husband's illness in the past. Clarkson was married to Blackstock for seven years before they separated in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2022.
At this time, Clarkson feels the need to be fully present for her children, and has rescheduled several concerts in Las Vegas for personal reasons. Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock (48), passed away from cancer. Blackstock was a talent manager, and has two other children from a previous marriage.
Clarkson has apologized to those who had already purchased tickets for the rescheduled concerts, and has encouraged them to check official sources or venue announcements for the most current status. The concerts beyond mid-August, such as dates in November 2025, appear to be scheduled as normal, for example, November 7, 8, and 14, 2025.
