Keira Knightley Joins Harry Potter Audiobooks Despite Boycott
Audible's full-cast audio adaptation of the Harry Potter series is set to begin in November 2025, with a star-studded lineup of voice actors. Keira Knightley has joined the cast as Professor Umbridge, despite the ongoing boycott of the franchise due to author J.K. Rowling's controversial views.
Knightley, known for her roles in films like 'Pride & Prejudice' and 'The Imitation Game', will voice the stern and cruel Professor Umbridge in the audiobooks. She joins a cast of over 200 actors, including Kit Harington, Ruth Wilson, and James McAvoy. Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the films, has stated that she does not agree with Rowling's views but still cherishes her time working on the series.
Knightley, when asked about the boycott in an interview with Decider, expressed hope for mutual respect among people with differing opinions. She said, 'I hope we can all find a way to live together, even if we don't agree on everything.' However, Rowling responded to Watson's statement on Twitter, calling her 'ignorant'.
The release of the audiobooks is expected to draw both excitement and controversy, given the ongoing boycott. Fans eagerly await the chance to immerse themselves in the magical world of Harry Potter once again, while others continue to boycott the franchise due to Rowling's anti-trans statements.
