Keanu Reeves as a Failing Guardian Angel: This Week's DVD Highlights - Keanu Reeves falls from grace in this week’s wildest DVD releases

Three new films arrive on DVD and Blu-ray this week, each offering a distinct flavour for viewers. A divine comedy, a quirky historical tale, and a dark sci-fi remake lead the latest releases. Among them, Keanu Reeves stars as an angel whose mission spirals out of control.

In Good Fortune – A Very Special Guardian Angel, Reeves plays Gabriel, an angel tasked with swapping the lives of two men, Arj and Jeff, as part of a celestial plan. Directed by Sönke Wortmann, the film takes a chaotic turn when Gabriel’s mission fails. As punishment, he loses his wings and is cast down to live as a human.

Bugonia reimagines the 2003 South Korean cult film Save the Green Planet! for Western audiences. The dark comedy follows Teddy, played by Jesse Plemons, a conspiracy theorist convinced that biotech executive Michelle (Emma Stone) is an alien plotting Earth’s destruction. His obsession spirals into kidnapping and interrogation as he tries to expose her supposed extraterrestrial agenda. Meanwhile, Leibniz – Chronicle of a Lost Portrait offers a fictional take on the life of philosopher and mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. The story centres on his struggle to sit still long enough for a portrait, blending humour with historical curiosity.

All three films—Good Fortune – A Very Special Guardian Angel, Bugonia, and Leibniz – Chronicle of a Lost Portrait—hit shelves this week. Each brings a unique premise, from celestial mishaps to alien paranoia and a restless genius. The releases cater to fans of comedy, sci-fi, and historical fiction alike.
