East Kazakhstan Region has faced a sharp rise in fires since the start of the heating season. Over 120 incidents have been recorded, with many linked to unsafe house use and electrical faults. Rescue teams have responded by inspecting nearly 35,000 homes to prevent further risks.

The majority of fires stemmed from avoidable mistakes. Thirty-eight were caused by broken fire safety rules for stoves, while 39 resulted from careless handling of flames. Another 30 fires came from faulty electrical equipment.

The inspections covered 34,800 homes, aiming to curb further incidents. Residents are being reminded of basic safety steps to prevent fires and poisoning. Proper house maintenance and electrical checks remain critical as cold weather continues.
