Kazakhstan’s trade route revolution cuts delivery times by over 70%
Kazakhstan has slashed delivery times along its key trade route while pushing ahead with sweeping digital reforms. A new national report highlights major gains in customs automation, paperless trade, and cross-border efficiency—all part of a broader push to modernise the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
In November 2023, Kazakhstan unveiled its second national trade-facilitation report, detailing reforms for 2023–2025. The document showcased progress in digitising foreign trade and upgrading the TITR, a critical corridor linking Asia and Europe. Delivery times along the route have plummeted, dropping from 38–53 days in 2022 to just 12–18 days in 2024, with some sections now taking as little as nine days.
Kazakhstan’s digital and logistical upgrades have already cut transit times and boosted trade efficiency. With ongoing reforms and international cooperation, the country is positioning the TITR as a faster, greener, and more competitive trade route. The next phase will focus on deeper automation, expanded paperless systems, and stricter environmental compliance.
