The Guskhan Kosanov Memorial international track and field tournament, held in Central Asia, honours the legacy of Guskhan Kosanov, a celebrated Kazakhstani sprinter. This prestigious tournament, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze Level, attracts top athletes from the region and beyond.

This year's tournament took place on August 2-3 at the Olympic Training Center stadium, with 214 athletes from 17 countries participating.

Kazakh athletes shone brightly on the first day of the competition, with several medal events won. Nadezhda Dubovitskaya won the high jump, clearing 1.84m, and earned a gold medal. In the shot put, Ivan Ivanov won bronze with a distance of 19.12, while Nadezhda Bogdanova did the same for the women's shot put with a distance of 11.38.

The men's 4x100m relay team, consisting of Vitaliy Zemts, Almat Tulebaev, Damir Sutjanov, and Adil Omarbekov, won silver with a time of 40.42. Adil Omarbekov also won the silver medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.97.

Sprinters from Kazakhstan and neighbouring countries frequently excel in the tournament, reflecting Kosanov's sprinting legacy. Athletes from countries like Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia regularly participate and win in various track events such as the 100m, 200m, and relay races. Field event stars in disciplines such as long jump, triple jump, and throwing events also gain recognition.

In the women's 4x100m relay, Kazakhstan-1 (Victoria An, Maria Efremova, Adelina Zemts, and Alexandra Zaljubovskaya) finished second. Victoria An also won the silver medal in the 100m with a time of 12.02.

Alexandra Zaljubovskaya won the 400m with a time of 54.04, earning a gold medal. Adelina Zemts won the silver medal in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.85.

In the 1500m, Akbilek Kurumbaev finished second with a time of 4:37.0, earning a silver medal. Igor Khrunin finished third with a time of 3:55.18. Elnour Mukhitdinov won bronze in the 400m with a time of 47.50.

Yevgeniy Labutov won bronze in the discus throw with a throw of 56.05.

The Guskhan Kosanov Memorial tournament consistently showcases emerging talents and established stars from Central Asia, contributing to regional athletics development. For detailed, up-to-date results or names of recent top performers, checking the latest official tournament reports or athletics federation announcements for the current year would provide the most accurate information.

Football is a sport that is not part of the Guskhan Kosanov Memorial international track and field tournament. However, some of the athletes participating in the tournament, such as Adil Omarbekov, are known for their versatility and have also excelled in sports like football. For instance, Omarbekov played professional football for Kazakhstan's FK Kairat before focusing on his track and field career.
