Kazakhstan’s Avalanche Season Begins with Heightened Safety Measures

The avalanche season in Kazakhstan has officially started as of November 15. Known as one of the country’s most high-risk regions for snow slides, authorities have stepped up monitoring and prevention efforts to keep visitors and residents safe.

Kazakhstan faces significant avalanche dangers, with 325 identified hazard zones and 93 kilometres of roads at risk. The region’s popularity as a winter destination—hosting over 3,000 tourists at ski resorts on weekends and holidays—adds to the urgency of safety measures.

With the avalanche season now underway, Kazakhstan’s monitoring systems and public alerts aim to reduce risks for both tourists and locals. Authorities continue to stress caution, urging everyone to follow safety guidelines and stay informed about changing conditions.
