Kazakhstan’s Akmola Region Launches AI-Powered Digital Overhaul by 2030
Akmola Region is rolling out a sweeping digital transformation plan aimed at boosting efficiency across public services and agriculture. New AI-driven systems, expanded surveillance networks, and educational tech hubs are now being introduced under a strategy approved through 2030.
The region has launched a unified Digital Aqmola ecosystem, combining a central platform, a situation centre, and a single contact hub for residents. This system also supports local startups and integrates AI tools to streamline municipal operations.
A key part of the upgrade is Kosshy’s expanded surveillance network, now featuring 1,500 cameras linked to a modern control centre. The setup monitors public order and detects issues like illegal dumping or fires in real time. Drones are also deployed to oversee farmland and forests, speeding up responses to environmental threats. In agriculture, a ‘smart gemini’ model uses AI to analyse land use and lift profitability. The technology assesses soil conditions, crop health, and resource allocation, helping farmers make data-driven decisions. Education is another focus, with the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies set to open in Akmola. Three smaller Tumo Classroom campuses will follow in Akkol, Kosshy, and Zhaksy, offering practical tech training for young people. These initiatives align with the President’s push to embed AI across all economic sectors, aiming for measurable gains in productivity and living standards.
The 2030 digitalisation strategy ties together AI adoption, public safety upgrades, and skill-building programmes. Officials expect the changes to cut costs, improve service delivery, and create new opportunities for businesses and residents. The rollout is already underway, with infrastructure and training projects taking shape across the region.
