Kazakhstan shuts down roads in nine regions due to extreme weather
Severe weather has forced the closure of roads across nine regions in Kazakhstan. Authorities have also placed restrictions on 30 national highway sections and 24 regional routes. The measures aim to limit risks during the ongoing harsh conditions.
The affected areas span Astana, Akmola, Abai, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, Kostanay, Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Ulytau. Heavy snow, ice, or strong winds have made travel unsafe in these locations. Local officials have not yet specified how long the closures will remain in place.
The road closures and restrictions will stay until conditions improve. Drivers in the nine regions must follow official updates for reopening timelines. Authorities continue monitoring the situation to adjust measures as needed.
