Kazakhstan shuts down key highway due to severe weather risks
Severe weather conditions in Kazakhstan's Pavlodar Region have led to traffic restrictions on the Pavlodar–Shcherbakty–Russian border highway. The restrictions, in place since 11:00 AM on November 10, affect all public road transport, including buses. Authorities aim to ensure passenger safety and prevent potential accidents.
The restrictions cover a stretch of 112 kilometres, from km 0 to 112, on the highway. Despite the measures, it remains unclear which authority is responsible for lifting the restrictions once weather conditions improve. The move comes as a precaution against hazardous weather, prioritising safety over convenience.
While the cause of the restrictions is clear, the responsible authority for lifting them remains unknown. The public is advised to check updates and follow any instructions issued by local authorities regarding the Pavlodar highway.
