Kazakhstan-based artists showcase their work at Comic Con Astana-2025
Get ready, pop culture enthusiasts! Comic Con Astana 2025 is just around the corner, and this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Taking place at the Astana Arena sports complex from July 9 to 12, the festival will attract over 75,000 attendees, including at least 10,000 international tourists.
The heart of the festival is the "Authors' Alley," where over 150 Kazakh authors will exhibit their work. This year, visitors can look forward to purchasing works from both renowned and emerging Kazakh artists and craftspeople, including some of the most notable names in the local comics scene.
One such name is Alibek Kozhageldiyev, a Kazakh comics artist known for his works such as We Are Not Superheroes and The Other Makta Qyz, which are available in Kazakh and Russian. He has been active professionally since 2012 and promotes Kazakh-language comics with a blend of folklore and modern humor. Other notable participants in the Authors' Alley include Murat Dilmanov, creator of Uyatmen and Apa, and Alibek Kojageldiev, author of "Bulyp Zhigit" and "Drugaia Maktan Qyz."
The alley will also feature works based on Kazakh folklore heroes and mythical creatures, such as Malikatakira's "Malikata Kira" comics. In addition to comic books and manga, visitors can expect to see fan art, pins, stickers, posters, and handmade items inspired by video games, movies, and books.
The event will showcase works by various comic book and manga authors, illustrators, traditional and digital artists, game concept creators, and pop culture enthusiasts. This year, some well-known international guests such as actors Scott Adkins and Esai Morales will attend the event, although they are not noted as part of the Authors' Alley specifically.
One popular figure among fans who will be present at the event is Miloras. The festival is part of Comic Con Astana, Central Asia's largest geek festival, and offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of comics, manga, and pop culture. So mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience at Comic Con Astana 2025!
