ASTANA - The Kazakh President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, recently welcomed Amir Ohana, the Speaker of Knesset of Israel, on April 8. Their discussion centered around economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and joint projects.

Tokayev celebrated the visit of the Israeli parliamentary leader, stating that it reiterates a shared commitment to boosting Kazakh-Israeli relations. He emphasized the importance of this encounter for exploring potential avenues of bilateral cooperation.

Trade and economic partnerships were priority topics during the meeting. Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstan's eagerness to strengthen investment ties and prepare ideal conditions for the execution of joint projects, according to Akorda.

Cooperation in water resource management garnered significant attention. Tokayev acknowledged Israel's cutting-edge technologies and expressed Kazakhstan's willingness to collaborate in this area.

Ohana expressed gratitude for the president's warm welcome. He acknowledged the burgeoning relationship between the two nations, adding that these ties present new prospects for collaboration.

In terms of water management, Kazakhstan is keen on adopting Israel's advanced technologies, particularly in areas like irrigation efficiency, desalination, and wastewater treatment. Mutual training programs and integration in broader partnerships are also being considered.

Future investment prospects include financing and technical support for reservoirs in the Abay region, ecological projects to protect Balkhash Lake, and involvement in digital water management and transparent distribution systems.

These developments demonstrate Kazakhstan's aim to secure around $1.5–2 billion in water sector investments by 2030, capitalizing on Israel's global recognition for water conservation in water-scarce environments.

Tokayev and Ohana discussed the potential for future investment prospects in water resource management, with Kazakhstan expressing a keen interest in adopting Israel's advanced technologies in areas such as irrigation efficiency, desalination, and wastewater treatment.
