Kazakh Tennis Stars Make History at US Open and WTA Tour

Kazakh tennis is making waves on the international stage. This week, 17-year-old Zangar Nurlanuly made history by becoming the first Kazakh to reach the semifinals of the junior US Open in singles. Meanwhile, veteran player Zhіbek Kulambaeva secured her first watch WTA doubles title in Huizhou, China.

Nurlanuly's impressive run in New York saw him climb 29 places in the junior world rankings, now sitting at 25th. His coach, Marat Kulambayev, has been instrumental in supporting the young talent's career. Back in China, Kulambaeva, paired with Slovenian Veronika Erjavec, defeated the Japanese duo Aya Shibahara and Momoko Kobori in straight sets to claim the WTA 125 Series Tournament title. This victory marks Kulambaeva's first watch WTA doubles title at the age of 25, adding to her already impressive tally of 35 ITF doubles titles.

Kazakhstan's tennis prospects are looking bright with these recent achievements. Nurlanuly's rise in the rankings and Kulambaeva's first watch title are not only personal milestones but also significant steps forward for Kazakh tennis on the global stage.
