Kazakh Sergeant Completes 600km Ultramarathon for Republic Day

Sergeant Raauan Abylkhanov, a veteran of the Kazakhstan Armed Forces, has completed an astonishing ultramarathon, covering 600 kilometers from Astana to Kokchetav and back. The feat, dedicated to Kazakhstan's Republic Day, was met with praise and admiration.

Abylkhanov, serving for over 20 years, faced harsh weather conditions daily during the marathon. He covered 120 kilometers each day, pushing through tough conditions. The ultramarathon began and ended at the Ministry of Defense building in Astana.

The sergeant's achievement was lauded by Deputy Minister of Defense Lieutenant General Kanysh Abubakirov, who hailed it as an example of strength, courage, and patriotism. Abylkhanov, a father of nine, has previously set records and won marathons, including a 350 km run in 48 hours in 2022. Upon completing the ultramarathon, he was greeted with military honors, applause, and traditional Kazakh flatbread, baursaks.
