Kazakh fencer Zailubayev wins bronze at Junior World Championships

The Junior and Cadet World Fencing Championships are now underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Among the standout performances so far, Kazakhstan's Nurmukhamed Zailubayev secured a bronze medal in the men's junior sabre event. Zailubayev reached the semifinals after a strong run through the competition. He defeated Hungary's Dániel Berkes, Japan's Motoki Kawahara, Russia's Yaroslav Borisov, and the USA's Emilio Paturzo in earlier rounds.

His campaign ended in a close match against Turkey's Furkan Yaman. The semifinal bout finished 13-15 in Yaman's favour, earning Zailubayev the bronze.

The championships continue with fencers from around the world still competing for titles. Zailubayev's bronze adds to Kazakhstan's medal count in the tournament. Further results will be announced as the event progresses.
