Kate's Reflections on Macron's Official Visit
Princess Kate is set to play a significant role in the upcoming state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte, scheduled from July 8 to 10, 2025. The royal couple, Prince William and Kate, will personally welcome the Macrons at RAF Northolt, marking a departure from traditional state visits that typically take place at Buckingham Palace.
Upon their arrival, the royal family and the French presidential couple will participate in a carriage procession through Windsor town to Windsor Castle. King Charles III and President Macron will inspect a Guard of Honour, followed by a formal welcome and a royal lunch involving members of the royal family and the French delegation.
Later events include a grand state banquet and official speeches. The visit serves as a blueprint for the planned visit of US President Donald Trump, scheduled for September.
Recently, Princess Kate visited the RHS Wellbeing Garden at Colchester Hospital, emphasising themes of recovery and wellbeing. She expressed gratitude to those working and volunteering to support patients and highlighted the ongoing challenges of recovery, noting how difficult it can be “to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” referring to her own experience with a “rollercoaster” cancer journey. This indicates her continuing personal commitment to health and wellbeing causes, which are likely to inform her public engagements and advocacy efforts in the future.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are expected to host the distinguished guests in Windsor, while King Charles will also continue to receive outpatient treatment. The royal couple will take a carriage ride through Windsor with the Macrons and the heir apparent couple.
During their stay, the Macrons will also make stops in London's Westminster Abbey and at the British Parliament. A bilateral summit is planned for the last day of the state visit. The state visit is a significant diplomatic event, marking the strengthening of relations between the United Kingdom and France.
It is still uncertain whether Princess Kate will attend the state banquet, as her attendance is still under consideration. The state visit by President Macron is the first by a French head of state since 2008.
