Kate Middleton and Prince William Shared a Tender Encounter Outside Windsor Castle During the U.S. State Banquet
In an extraordinary event, the British royal family hosted U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for a second State Banquet at Windsor Castle. The occasion was graced by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were seen holding hands throughout the evening.
Kate Middleton, looking radiant, wore a stunning gown designed by British designer Phillipa Lepley. The gown featured a gold Chantilly lace coat and a silk crepe dress, and she accessorised it with the Lover's Knot tiara. In addition, Middleton wore a sash featuring her royal orders from Queen Elizabeth and a new standard from King Charles.
Prince William, on the other hand, wore a standard Windsor tail coat, a formal white tie, and the blue sash and star of the Order of the Garter, along with two additional stars for his knighthoods.
During the banquet, President Trump described Kate Middleton as "radiant and healthy and beautiful." The couple was seated next to King Charles, making for a memorable evening.
Before the State Banquet, photos of Middleton and Prince William entering Windsor Castle were taken, but the photographer remains unidentified.
Away from the glamour of the State Banquet, Kate Middleton spent part of her day meeting young children learning about nature in Frogmore Gardens. On Thursday, she joined the First Lady for a public engagement with members of the Scouts' Squirrels program in the same location.
Rachel King, a news writer at Town & Country, has been covering the event. Her work on travel and lifestyle has appeared in Forbes, Observer, Robb Report, Cruise Critic, and Cool Hunting, among others. Originally from San Francisco, Rachel now resides in New York with her wife, their daughter, and a labradoodle. Before joining T&C, she spent nearly a decade as an editor at Fortune.
The State Banquet held at Windsor Castle has a rich history, known for special historical meetings between British monarchs and U.S. presidents. The event is sure to be remembered for its unprecedented second hosting and the radiant appearance of Kate Middleton.
