Kastelruther Spatzen Go Rejuvenated on Christmas Tour - Kastelruther Spatzen shorten Christmas tour after Norbert Rier’s heart surgery

The Kastelruther Spatzen have announced changes to their upcoming Christmas tour after lead singer Norbert Rier underwent heart surgery. His son, Alexander Rier, will step in as frontman for the shortened series of concerts. Despite this, the band’s 2026 Germany tour remains unchanged, with dates spanning five months from April to September.

Norbert Rier, the band’s long-time lead singer, recently had heart surgery and is currently recovering. Doctors have advised him to rest, forcing the group to reduce their Christmas tour from 26 planned concerts to just eight. The remaining shows will take place between December 7 in Grimma and December 11 in eastern Germany.

The Kastelruther Spatzen will proceed with a shorter Christmas tour, led by Alexander Rier while Norbert recovers. Their 2026 tour remains on schedule, and the extended record deal signals continued activity. The band’s future beyond that, however, remains under discussion.
