In a significant development, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has confirmed his readiness to visit Kazakhstan this year to sign new agreements on mutual cooperation. This announcement comes after a series of conversations between Pashinyan and Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The discussions, which began with a telephone conversation between the two leaders, have been focused on establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Pashinyan informed the Kazakh side about some aspects of the negotiation process, while President Tokayev expressed Kazakhstan's readiness to continue facilitating the political dialogue.

The peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, signed in August 2025, marked a historic achievement. The deal, brokered by US President Donald Trump, includes the establishment of a strategic transit corridor—the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP)—linking Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory.

While Kazakhstan did not play a publicly recognized or direct role in the negotiation of this peace agreement, the Prime Minister of Armenia has given a positive assessment of Kazakhstan's activities in reconciling the two nations. President Tokayev has also stated that Kazakhstan is ready to provide its platform for negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Preparations for the official visit of the Armenian Prime Minister to Kazakhstan, scheduled for the end of this year, have been confirmed. This visit is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two countries and open the way for large-scale international cooperation in the South Caucasus.

As the region continues to navigate geopolitical shifts, the role of countries like Kazakhstan in fostering peace and cooperation cannot be overstated. The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Pashinyan to Astana is a testament to this commitment.
