Kartik Aaryan’s *Tu Meri Main Tera* flops despite star power and Karan Johar’s comeback
Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s latest film, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, has hit theatres amid high expectations. Marketed as the season’s big romantic comedy, the movie marks Aaryan’s first project with producer Karan Johar since their public fallout over Dostana 2.
The film, directed by Sameer Vidwans, features an ensemble cast including Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, Tiku Talsania, and Aruna Irani. Produced under Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, it carries a hefty budget of Rs. 90 crore. Despite its holiday-season release, box office returns have been weak.
Critics gave the movie mixed reviews. The Free Press Journal rated it 2 stars, noting that Aaryan’s performance lacked focus, seemingly influenced by other actors. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar, released 20 days earlier, outperformed Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri by earning Rs 15 crore on its 22nd day—surpassing the latter’s two-day total. On its second day, the film collected Rs 5 crore, bringing its cumulative earnings to Rs 12.75 crore. The producers include Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Bhumika Tewari, Shareen Mantri Kedia, and Kishor Arora.
The film’s underwhelming box office performance contrasts with its pre-release hype. With a star-studded cast and a high budget, its financial outcome will likely influence future projects under the same production banners. The collaboration between Aaryan and Johar, after their past disagreements, remains a talking point.
