The chatter’s been flying around that there’s a potential sequel to the 2004 David Dhawan comedy, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and guess who’s rumored to be taking the lead? None other than Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan! (Don't mind us, just gazing at those back-to-back blockbusters)
Unraveling the Rumors: Is Kartik Aaryan in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2?
Now, here's the tea: just this week, Pinkvilla reported that Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan are under negotiations for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala (the same chap who made the first part, btw). But, seems like the rumors might be as interesting as the sequel itself! An industry insider tells HT, "The rumors about Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are bunkum. The lad’s got a whole heap of projects to knock off first."
So, the dude's been gallivanting around the North East since April and May, filming Anurag Basu's as-yet-untitled film with Sreeleela (check the socials for some behind-the-scenes goodness). And, with the focus on his solo projects, it seems Kartik’s holding off on committing to ensemble or multi-hero projects, plotting his path for growth and that space he's so fiercely carved out.
Kartik Aaryan's Recent and Upcoming Films
It's been a while since 2018's Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, when Kartik teamed up with Sunny Singh, so there may be a grain of truth to those claims about his film choices. Kartik's seen some mighty success since, with the Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise-he's been part of both versions, and the combined gross is a whopping ₹600 crore worldwide!
Besides the Anurag Basu project, Kartik has other irons in the fire too: Karan Johar's fantasy flick, Naagzilla, (yep, you read that right) and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Johar's Dharma Productions (that’s some keen collaboration). Both flicks are scheduled for release in 2026.
