Kartarpur Gurdwara Restoration: United Sikhs Restores Essential Services After Devastating Floods
Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, has undergone extensive restoration following October's devastating floods. United Sikhs, a non-profit organization, has been at the forefront of these efforts, working tirelessly to restore essential services and preserve the sacredness of the site.
The floods severely damaged the water filtration plant and control systems at the Gurdwara. United Sikhs mobilized technical experts to assess and restore these essential services. After 20 days of dedicated work, the water filtration system and main control valve in the basement of Sarowar Sahib have been cleaned and restored, and power control systems have been reinstated.
In addition to these repairs, seven generator units have been restored with updated control systems and replaced batteries. The Project Management Unit (PMU) of Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib has also appealed for support to replace approximately 12,000 square feet of damaged carpet, essential for the comfort and safety of pilgrims and preserving the sacred atmosphere of the Gurdwara.
United Sikhs urges the global sangat to support the ongoing efforts to maintain the serenity and sacredness of Kartarpur Sahib. Future restoration efforts, led by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), will focus on flood resilience, infrastructure modernization, and preserving the site's religious and cultural significance.
