The Kansas Jayhawks will return home to their newly renovated stadium this Saturday, hosting the West Virginia Mountaineers in a highly anticipated Big 12 matchup. The last time these two teams met in Lawrence was back in 2021, with the Jayhawks emerging victorious in a thrilling 77-75 game.

However, the current form of the Jayhawks is somewhat concerning. They are yet to secure a win in their Big 12 schedule, standing at 0-2, while West Virginia has fared better, sitting at 2-1. The Mountaineers will undoubtedly view this as a great opportunity to extend their lead in the conference.

West Virginia's confidence is well-founded, considering their recent form. They secured a hard-fought 31-24 victory against Pitt in their Backyard Brawl rivalry, a testament to their resilience. In their last meeting with Kansas, in 2021, West Virginia also came out on top, securing a 34-28 win.

The run game for Kansas has been anemic, with their last outing against Missouri resulting in a 42-31 loss. In contrast, West Virginia's Tye Edwards led the charge in their last game, rushing for 141 yards and scoring three touchdowns.

Kansas coach Lance Leipold, however, remains optimistic about his team's defensive front, which he believes has been active and physical. Offensively, the Jayhawks have struggled with consistency, with sixth-year quarterback Jalon Daniels throwing for 223 yards and two touchdowns in their last game, but still falling short.

Saturday night's game promises to be a tough test for both teams. The all-time series between West Virginia and Kansas favours the Mountaineers, with an 11-2 lead. The venue for the upcoming game is Lawrence, Kansas, where the Jayhawks are undefeated this season.

This game marks the first time these two teams have played in Lawrence since 2021. Fans are eagerly awaiting a repeat of the thrilling encounter from that game, with both teams looking to secure a crucial Big 12 victory.
