Kansas City-based pianist Ilya Shmukler, a victor at the Concours Géza Anda Competition, is set to present his first performance in Kansas City since his triumph, scheduled for an upcoming event.

In the world of classical music, Ilya Shmukler is making a name for himself. The talented pianist, a native of Tomilino, Russia, has been studying at Park University's International Center for Music (ICM) under the tutelage of Stanislav Ioudenitch since 2019.

Shmukler's achievements are impressive. He has won the top prize at several international piano competitions, including the Wideman International Piano Competition in Shreveport, La., the Lewisville (Texas) Lake Symphony International Competition, the Artist Presentation Society competition in St. Louis, and the Shigeru Kawai International Piano Competition in Tokyo.

His success continued in 2022 when he advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and was one of six finalists. He also earned an additional prize for "Best Performance of a Mozart Concerto." This year, he added another accolade to his list, winning the Concours Geza Anda Piano Competition in Zurich, Switzerland.

On October 5, 2024, Shmukler will perform his first concert in Kansas City since his victory. The concert, scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., will take place at the 1900 Building in Mission Woods, Kan.
