Kamala Harris Unveils Memoir Detailing Her Historic 2020 Presidential Campaign

Vice President Kamala Harris is set to release a new book titled "107 Days," offering a behind-the-scenes account of her 2020 Democratic presidential campaign. The book, published by Simon & Schuster, is scheduled for release on September 23, 2025.

The memoir, which takes its title from the duration of Harris' campaign for president, promises to provide a revealing narrative of the drama of running for the highest office in the land. Harris describes the process as revisiting the campaign in reverse, reliving moments, speeches, and interactions with deeper reflection on the experiences.

The book aims to share what she saw, learned, and believes is necessary to move forward politically. It will offer candid insights and lessons from her historic run as the first Black woman and first woman of colour to compete for the presidency.

Harris' book will offer an insider perspective on her presidential campaign, providing a behind-the-scenes look at her historic run. In a social media post, Harris stated that the world only saw a part of the story during her campaign.

The announcement of Harris' book comes a day after her decision not to run for governor of California in 2026. Harris, who was the first woman, Black person, and South Asian person to hold the office of Vice President, is now planning her next political move.

Other prominent Democrats, including former Rep. Katie Porter, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, are also running for governor of California. The Democratic party is favoured to hold the governor's office in the deep-blue state of California.

Harris' decision not to run for governor does not necessarily mean she will run for president in 2028. The book, however, will offer a valuable insight into her thoughts and experiences during her presidential campaign.

"107 Days" is poised to be a page-turning and insightful political nonfiction work. While specific details, including her thoughts on President Joe Biden's fitness for office, are not disclosed in advance, the book is expected to shed light on Harris' political journey and her vision for the future.
