Kamala Harris Makes an Appearance on Stephen Colbert's Nightly Talk Show
In an upcoming memoir titled "107 Days," Vice President Kamala Harris will delve into her experiences during the 2024 presidential election. The book is set to provide insights into the political landscape and Harris' reflections on the need for new methods and fresh thinking beyond traditional politics.
Meanwhile, CBS's late-night show, "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," has recently been cancelled, two weeks after a $16 million payment to former President Donald Trump to settle his lawsuit. The show's final episodes saw a host of celebrities, including Stephen Colbert himself, performing as a send-off. Jimmy Kimmel expressed his feelings about the cancellation on Instagram, while Jon Stewart took aim at CBS and Paramount in one of his segments.
During her appearance on Colbert's show, Harris declined to discuss President Biden's cognitive health and the lawsuit involving Trump and CBS News at length. She also refrained from naming a current Democratic leader, instead framing the party's challenges as a collective responsibility. Harris expressed a desire to engage with people in a non-transactional way, stating that she does not wish to seek elected positions for the time being.
Harris has been vocal about her critiques of the political system, stating that she believes it's broken. She has also predicted many aspects of a Trump presidency, but did not predict the capitulation of certain guardians of the system and democracy. In the interview, she clarified that she is not giving up on the fight, despite her comments implying otherwise.
In the wake of the cancellation of "The Late Show," Harris has chosen not to run for California governor in the 2026 election. She has taken months to turn the news back on after her defeat and has decided to focus on other avenues for leadership and public service.
