The local elections in Kalkar, Germany, are fast approaching, with the polls set to open on September 14, 2025. City and municipal councils, as well as the county council in the Kleve district, will be elected during this election.
In Electoral District 50, Kalkar residents will have the opportunity to vote for several candidates vying for the mayoral position. For Electoral District 10, Leonie Klaasen-van Husen is running under Forum Kalkar for Altkalkar I, while Lutz Kühnen and Johannes Kösters are also running under the same party for Altkalkar II and Altkalkar II, respectively. Voting documents for the local election will be sent out between August 4 and August 24, 2025. Eligible voters have the option to exercise their voting rights by mail-in voting, and the application for mail-in voting documents is possible until September 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
Runoff elections for the mayoral election may be necessary and are scheduled for September 28, 2025. It is important to note that the mayor is elected directly in NRW and needs more than 50 percent of the votes.
