Meet the New Boss: Dimitrios Grammozis Takes the Reins at 1. FC Kaiserslautern

Familiar face, new challenge! Dimitrios Grammozis, former teammate of Miroslav Klose at Schalke, is now the coach of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 3rd league.

Grammozis kicked off his coaching career at VfL Bochum after hanging up his boots in 2013. He made a leap to Darmstadt 98, a second-division club, in the 2018/19 season, where he assumed the head coach role for the first time. His recent stint was with FC Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga.

Now, he's stepping onto uncharted territory in Kaiserslautern. With his assistant coach, Sven Piepenbrock, by his side, Grammozis will begin his first training session this Sunday. His official presentation as the new coach will take place on Monday, December 4, ahead of the DFB Cup round of 16 against 1.FC Nürnberg.

Coach's Past Performance

Grammozis didn't hit the ground running at Schalke, with a series of disappointing results. However, his time in Darmstadt 98 saw him guide the team to an impressive promotion in 2018/19.

The Road Ahead for Grammozis

Now, Grammozis faces the task of lifting 1. FC Kaiserslautern out of the 3rd league and into the limelight. It won't be easy, but with his experience and drive, there's no denying it's an exciting prospect.
